Backpack Program The backpack program is designed to help feed children over the weekend and during school breaks when other resources may not be available to them.  Each child who is identified as needing assistance is provided a backpack with enough nourishing and child-friendly food to hold them over until school begins again on Monday.  Statistics and research has shown that a child that is nutritionally sound is more alert and focused. Thanks to grants from the Grable Foundation and Idol Gives Back Campaign from the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund, WCFB started a pilot program with two sites.  We now have 3 sites open.  These sites have met the criteria as they already have after school programs in place and the need has been identified.  The backpack program has shown to be successful in other areas of the country and we firmly believe it will be successful here as well. Help this program feed the hungry children in our community by donating toward the purchase of food to fill their backpacks...
