Introduction


Your privacy is important to the Westmoreland County Food Bank (WCFB).  The following privacy statements disclose the privacy practices for www.westmorelandfoodbank.org and describes our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used on this site.

Collection and Use of Information

Visitors to our website are not required to reveal any information about themselves.  Our web server automatically collects IP addresses, but not individual email or domain addresses.  The purpose of this is to compile data such as the number of unique visitors to our site, what pages are visited, etc.  This anonymous data helps us measure and analyze site usage so that we may improve the design and content of our site.  We do not link this information to personally identifiable information.

There are some sections of this site where you may choose to provide personal information, such as name, address, phone number and email address to WCFB.  These areas include:

  • Signing up for our "Food For Thought" eNewsletter or Food Recall Alerts
  • Submitting a "Contact Us"
  • Purchasing items from our eStore
  • Making a tax-deductible donation

The information we collect is used to fulfill your request and will not be shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.  We may also use this information to notify you about updates to our website and/or contact you for marketing purposes.  If you do not wish to receive such notifications, please let us know by contacting us via email, phone or postal mail.  Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers online will ONLY receive phone calls from us with questions regarding an order or donation.  WE DO NOT MAKE SOLICITATION PHONE CALLS.

Access to Your Personal Information

We may collect personal information such as name, address, telephone number or email if supplied by the user.  Where appropriate, payment information (e.g., credit card numbers and billing address) is collected but not stored.  This information will NOT be shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Upon request, we will provide site visitors information that we maintain about that site visitor including transaction information (e.g., dates of purchases, amounts and types of donations) and contact information (e.g., name, address, phone number).  We also offer visitors the ability to have inaccuracies corrected in their contact information.  Registered users of our site can access and update this information by clicking "login" on the site or contacting us via email at admin@westmorelandfoodbank.org, phone or postal mail.

Security

We have appropriate security measures in place to protect you against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.  When we transfer and receive certain types of information such as financial information, we redirect visitors to secure pages on our server.

Cookies

A cookie is a message given to your web browser and stored as a text file.  This file transmits information back to the web site's computer to collect information about your activities on the site or make it easier to use certain site functions (e.g., "remember me").  The main purpose of cookies is to identify users as unique and possibly prepare customized web pages for them.

We use cookies to record user-specific information on what pages users visit and record past activity on our site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site.  We do not use cookies to collect or store personal information about our web site visitors.

Section II
Fundraising Policy


Funds shall be solicited in a respectful manner and without pressure.  All third parties not directly affiliated with WCFB who wish to solicit funds on behalf of the organization must acquire written permission from WCFB prior to beginning any fundraising activities.  Donor-designated restrictions on contributions shall be honored.  WCFB is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and contributions made to the organization are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.  Tax receipts are automatically emailed to the donor after the donation is completed online.  If a donation is made offline, written tax receipts are issued.  If the donor receives anything in exchange for a donation, such as a dinner or event admission, the tax receipt shall clearly state what portion of the donation was tax deductible. 

Fundraising Procedures

Upon receipt, all monetary donations are forwarded to the Financial Director.  After funds have been accounted for, check copies and any other correspondence accompanying the gift shall be given to the Resource and Program Director.  All monetary donations are recorded and deposited according to accounting procedures.  All donor-designated restrictions shall be communicated to the Financial Manager so that they may be recorded and governed appropriately.  All requests for donors to remain anonymous shall be honored by flagging the gift in the donor database as appropriate.  All in-kind gifts that are accepted by WCFB shall be recorded and acknowledged.

Donor Privacy Policy


Any information supplied to WCFB by donors will be used solely to fulfill their donation and shall not be shared for any reason unless permission is granted by the donor to share such information.  All requests to remain anonymous shall be honored.  WCFB does not sell or share donor lists.  Donors who supply WCFB with their postal address or email address may be contacted periodically for solicitation purposes and/or with information regarding upcoming events.  Donors may request to be permanently removed from WCFB's mailing list or emails by contacting us via email, phone or postal mail.  All requests will be removed from WCFB's mailing list or email list will be honored.  Donors who supply WCFB with their phone number shall only be contacted by telephone if need be regarding a donation they have made.  WCFB does not participate in telephone fundraising activities.
